"While it is possible that the downbeat forecast is totally self-serving -- fear-mongering in the hope of getting more aid and housing-friendly legislation out of Washington." End of story. Even Treasury Secretary Paulson saying this week that he sees no evidence of housing turning around soon seems to me as justification for an economic stimulus package, or more likely, the expansion of the homeowner rescue program HOPE NOW, which he hinted at yesterday.
