I was wondering when I read this:

Any scheme to commit auto insurance fraud usually involves conspiracy, said Mike McKee, a crime bureau special agent who covers all of Southern California. "Family and friends are involved," he said. "It's not a spur-of-the-moment thing because there's a lot of criminal intent and forethought."

So would Mike McKee also agree that any scheme to fly suicide planes into World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon; would involve conspiracy; because its not a spur of the moment thing and because there is allot of criminal intent and forethought involved?

Thats one thing I can never quite figure out; how goverment agents think that conspiracies only occur; in certain politically correct criminal circumstances. When they don't want anyone to examine the evidence for who was behind the 'conspiracy', then there ain't no conspiracy, only a bunch of conspiracy theorist freaks!

Anyway....

In Michael Lewis' "Wall Street on the Tundra" article on the Iceland blow-up,
reference is made to all the Range Rovers being blown up for the insurance. You would hear a boom as the gas tank exploded.

I was just in Michigan and one of my extended family does fire investigations for insurance companies. He says it's getting out of control with the huge spike in arson and insurance fraud, and they are having to many, many more investigations on cases they would normally just settle.

"Barbecuing a Beamer ..."

Such fun. A society gone mad with consumption and excesses now going mad torching the very things it worships. What's the words to characterize this phenomenon? How about the Great American Consumption Inquisition?
